Straighten Teeth

If you have crooked teeth and/or a misaligned bite (under bite or overbite), there are a variety of treatments that can help straighten teeth including braces and retainers.

Cook Parade Dentists will ask questions about your health, conduct a clinical exam, take impressions of your teeth, take photos of your face and teeth, and order X-rays of the mouth and head. An appropriate treatment plan is made based on analysis of the gathered information.

In their entirety, braces work by applying continuous pressure over a period of time to slowly move teeth in a specific direction. As the teeth move, the bone changes shape as pressure is applied. If a patient requires braces we will refer them to the orthodontist to achieve the smile they want. The dentist will follow up on the orthodontic treatment and assist the orthodontist when dental treatment is required such as extractions and fillings.

For children aged 3 to 15, we can offer a series of removable Myobrace appliances which is a preventive pre-orthodontic treatment. The Myobrace allows for natural growth and development of teeth, aiming to straighten your teeth and jaw. This no-brace approach addresses the poor myofunctional habits which are the root causes for crooked teeth and/or a misaligned bite.  The appliance is only required to be worn 1-2 hours a day and while sleeping at night.
